Which HP notebooks have Tile technology?
The following notebooks are equipped with built-in Tile finding technology:
- HP Elitebook 1000 Series: Elite Dragonfly, x360 1040; x360 1030
- HP Elitebook 800 G8 Series: 830, x360 830, 840, 850
- HP ZBook Firefly G8 Series: 14, 15
*Please note this list is subject to change. Tile is pre-stalled on HP models with an 11th gen. Intel CPU (TGL) and Intel WLAN card. To check if your HP laptop is supported, you can Press “Function + Escape” if HP Hot Keys is enabled or you can type “system information” in the search bar on Windows on your HP notebook.
How does Tile work with my HP notebook?
Find with Tile PC is pre-installed on your laptop. Once activated, you can use the following Tile features to track your laptop, such as:
- Ringing your laptop (Elitebook 1000 Series only)
- Finding your laptop with Tile’s Proximity Meter
How do I activate Tile on my HP notebook?
You can find Tile on your laptop under the Start menu, in MyHP, or you can download the Tile app from the Windows store. If you are an existing Tile customer, simply sign into your account to get started. If you don't yet have a Tile account, you can create an account and follow the steps below to activate your laptop:
- Start the activation process within the Tile Windows app. Your laptop will sync with Tile via Bluetooth.
- Follow the prompts and wait until you see a message that your Tile is activated.
- Download the Tile mobile app, sign in and ring your nearby laptop!
What settings need to be enabled on my laptop for Tile to work?
The following settings are required to be enabled in order for Tile to perform optimally.
- Internet Connection including notifications and maps.
- Bluetooth On - to start Bluetooth on your laptop, please go to your settings and enable bluetooth.
- Location settings set to “On”.
How do I ring my HP notebook using Tile?
Ringing your laptop is currently supported on the Elitebook 1000 Series only:
- Open up the Tile mobile app and find your HP laptop.
- Tap the green “Find” button.
- Listen for the Tile tune!

How do I find my HP notebook using Tile?
You’ll be able to find your laptop by using Tile’s in-app Proximity Meter
The Proximity Meter is easy to use!
Simply tap on the desired Tile from your list of Tiles and press the “Find” button.
When within Bluetooth range, the green ring around your Tile will turn into the Proximity Meter. The rings will begin to light up gradually as you slowly walk closer, or will fade as you get farther away from your Tile.
Can I find my laptop if it is off?
No one ever plans on losing their laptop. If you do, Tile will be ready! As long as your laptop battery has power, you can find your laptop in the following power states:
HP Elitebook 800 Series: Working, Modern Standby, Hibernate, and Soft Off.
HP Elitebook 1000 Series: Working, Modern Standby, Sleep, Hibernate, Soft Off, and Mechanical Off.
How do I find my laptop if it is out of range?
If you are trying to find your laptop with the Tile mobile app, but the green “Find” button isn’t visible, this means that your laptop is not in range. Instead, you will see your laptop’s “last place seen”.
Tile’s last place seen feature records the address of the last place your laptop and the Tile app connected. Once your laptop is within Bluetooth range of your phone, the “Find” button will automatically appear!

How do I find my HP laptop using Tile if lost?
If you misplaced your laptop, enlist the power of the Tile community. Simply tap “Notify When Found” in the app and you will be notified when your Tile’s location is anonymously updated by other Tile customers.

I can’t find Tile in my Start Menu or MyHP on my notebook, is my notebook supported?
Please note that only notebooks that have the Tile module preinstalled will be able to be activated with Find with Tile PC. Currently, Tile is supported in the Elite Dragonfly and Elitebook 800 Series notebooks.
I have an Elitebook 800 Series or 1000 Series notebook and I can’t find Tile in my Start Menu or in MyHP on my notebook, can I still register and activate it?
Yes, if you cannot locate the Tile Windows application, then please visit the Windows Store on your notebook to download the application. Then follow these steps:
- Launch the Tile Windows app on your notebook.
- Follow the prompts on the Tile Windows app to fully activate your Tile notebook.
- Register the Tile to your user profile.
Since Tile is already in my HP Elitebook, do I really need to activate it?
Yes, please proceed with the Sign In/Sign Up onboarding process. Follow these steps:
- Launch the Tile Windows app on your notebook.
- Follow the prompts on the Tile Windows app to fully activate your Tile notebook.
- Register the Tile to your user profile.
When I turned on my Elitebook 1000 Series, it played a tune/beeped? What does that mean?
This is an indication that you have a Tile enabled device. This is normal, especially if it's the first time you turned on your PC. The tune/beep will stop shortly.
Because my Elitebook 1000 Series played a tune/beeped, does that mean my Tile is ready to go?
No, please proceed to the sign in/sign up process. During this process you will fully activate your tile module and register it to your user profile.
I am unable to activate Tile on my HP laptop, who can help?
