Great news! Apple has released the highly anticipated iOS 13 update. With this update a few things are changing how the Tile App works, and we want to ensure you’ll be able to find the things that matter most.
How does enabling "Always Allow" affect battery use on my phone or device?
We are always working to reduce Tile's impact on your device's battery life, and aim to keep Tile's share of your battery use at a minimum. Recently we released Connection-on-Demand- a connectivity standard that provides more frequent updates with improved accuracy, all while using less battery power on your phone or device.
How do I make sure my device can connect to my Tile?
In order for Tile to perform, it needs to have access to both Bluetooth and location services on your device. The new iOS 13 platform changes the way you grant Tile access to these services.
In order to make sure your Tile is able to connect to your device’s location services:
- Go into your device Settings, then tap Tile
- Under Allow Tile To Access, tap Location and select Always
In order to make sure your device permits the Tile app to use Bluetooth:
- Select your iOS device’s Settings icon, then tap Tile
- Under Allow Tile To Access, Turn On Bluetooth access
My iOS device keeps reminding me Tile is using my location services in the background. Is Tile using my location when it doesn’t need to?
iOS 13 is making an effort to create more ways for you to monitor how your device is connecting to your apps. Part of this effort is periodic reminders of which apps have access to certain services.
Periodically, you will get a reminder of how many times Tile has used your location to find your Tiles. It is important to keep enabling location services to 'Always Allow' so Tile can continue to serve you.

In order for Tile to perform correctly and dependably, the Tile app requires access to location and Bluetooth services on your device. The Tile Community is completely safe and anonymous. How do I turn on Dark Mode for the Tile app?
Currently, Dark Mode is not available for our app but our team is working on an update to support Dark Mode as we speak! We’re very excited about this new layout. Just keep up to date with the newest version of the Tile app, and it should be coming out soon!
